Usually filed after an argument at home, a fight outside a bar, or a shove someone reported. It is a Class A misdemeanor heard in District Court, and it often comes with a no-contact order on the first day that can keep you out of your own home. We explain the order before you go back and ask the judge to change it when we can.
Theft
Shoplifting and theft by unlawful taking. Whether it is a misdemeanor or a felony depends on the value of what was taken. A first theft charge can sometimes be resolved through diversion so it does not end in a conviction.
Driving on a suspended license
We start by finding out why the license was suspended. Often it was an unpaid ticket, a lapse in insurance, or a missed court date, and getting the license reinstated before court can change how the case ends.
Protective order violations
Breaking an EPO or DVO is a criminal charge in Kentucky, even if the other person reached out first. We check whether the order was actually served on you and exactly what it said, and tell you what you can and cannot do until court.
Probation violations
A violation can mean being held without bond until the hearing. We ask for the hearing quickly and bring proof of what you have been doing right: work, classes, clean tests, and payments.
